A Class of Our Own

This Digbeth First Friday we’re opening the doors for a Meet the Artists with Natalie Mills and Maya Davis‑Stokes, 7–8pm.

A Class of Our Own asks what happens when you refuse the neat little boxes society builds for you. You break them and make your own space. The exhibition is an exploration of class, belonging and the act of thriving in the in‑between.

Bleeding Out

Healthcare for women and people of marginalised genders in the UK is in crisis, underfunded and undervalued, with many waiting decades for diagnoses and treatment of common conditions such as endometriosis. Bleeding Out explores artistic responses to medical misogyny and the disparities of knowledge, treatment, understanding and compassion in gynaecological and reproductive healthcare. Creativity blooms as an antidote and a rebellion when systems and society refuses to listen. This exhibition is a message of hope for a better future.

Featuring works by 7 talented Birmingham and West Midlands artists, whose practices illuminate these realities and offer hope for a better future:

• Amelia Fox

• Charlie Fitz

• Leah Hickey

• Larissa Shaw

• Sally Butcher

• Z’Khayha James

• Yasmeen Fathima Thantrey

With special collaboration with Cysters, the Birmingham based charity who advocate nationwide for representation, inclusion and equitable womens’ healthcare.

*Please note a pre-booked artist talk will be taking place from 7-7:45pm.

Inner Worlds: Closing Weekend Projection and Live Performance

To mark the final weekend of the Inner Worlds exhibition, we are hosting a special Digbeth First Friday event that brings the show to life in a new and immersive way.

Exhibiting artist Emma Woolley has created a new animated projection, transforming elements of the paintings into moving, shifting dreamscapes that fill the gallery wall. The work expands the emotional world of the exhibition, drawing visitors deeper into its immersive nature of emotional weight, imagination and inner landscapes.

We will also be joined by Cries from the LTN, a Birmingham based project blending psychedelia, krautrock and techno shaped by the city’s brutalist sprawl. They have previously collaborated with exhibiting artist Tara Harris on an audio visual work that merged her painted landscapes with their experimental sound. Their live set brings that same energy back into the space for one night only.

Experience Inner Worlds one last time before it closes on the 5th July with a new projection, live music and the artists joining us in the gallery.

Free entry, all welcome.

Beauty and the Beast – Exhibition Launch

Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate the launch of our new Open Call exhibition ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

Birmingham is a city of gorgeous duality: red‑brick factories and wild buddleia, concrete underpasses with sudden bursts of nature. This exhibition brings together the work of over 40 independent artists together to celebrate that collision. Expect street photography, painting, ceramics, jewellery, printmaking, work that shows the city’s grit and green in equal measure. This exhibition is a celebration by the city, for the city.

Come on down, Bab!

Geisha – Private View with Sophie Rose Walters

Join us at Seventh Circle for the Private View of Geisha, a new exhibition by contemporary Birmingham based artist, Sophie-Rose Walters.

Over the past two years, Walters has immersed herself in the world of the Geisha, exploring their artistry, symbolism, and cultural legacy through a contemporary lens. This exhibition presents a vivid series of paintings inspired by individual Geisha she has researched throughout her practice, each piece marked by distinctive kimono patterns, symbolic hair ornaments, and colour stories that reflect different stages of training and identity.

Where traditional depictions often lean into muted tones, Walters embraces bold colour and expressive detail, celebrating the beauty, discipline, and resilience of the women who shaped this cultural tradition. Geisha offers a vibrant, modern homage, a body of work that blends research, narrative, and artistic interpretation.

Meet the artist Sophie, explore the full collection, and experience this striking exhibition as part of Digbeth First Friday.

Meet the Artist – Anita Roye at Seventh Circle

Join us at Seventh Circle for a unique opportunity to meet Birmingham-based artist and art psychotherapist Anita Roye and immerse yourself in her latest exhibition, Liminal Spaces.

About the Exhibition
Liminal Spaces is Anita’s most ambitious body of work to date, exploring the quiet “in-betweens” of our lives, the corridors, stairwells, and thresholds we often move through without thinking. Born from her early visits to our gallery while it was still a raw construction site before opening in October last year, this collection is a powerful abstract exploration of transition, memory, and emotional truth.

Expect an intimate setting where you can spend real time with the paintings. As both an artist and therapist, Anita’s practice is rooted in the belief that change occurs in the spaces without words. Her canvases are textured, spontaneous metaphors for repair and self-discovery that truly need to be experienced up close.

Whether you’re an avid collector or just wandering the streets of Digbeth for First Friday, everyone is welcome.

Renaissance Open Call Exhibition – Meet the Artists

Come and meet the incredible artists behind our current Open Call Exhibition, Renaissance.

From 6pm to 8pm, we’re hosting a Meet the Artists evening, a chance to speak directly with the people who created the work for the exhibition.

This evening is all about seeing the finished pieces on the wall, then hearing the stories, techniques, and passion that shaped them.

WHY NOT NOW? – Drop‑In and Draw. Meet the Artist Social

Drop‑In and Draw – Meet the Artists Social

The artists behind our exhibition ‘Why Not Now?’ – Roots, Ginger Dan, and Miscfit are hosting a drop‑in creative drawing session at Seventh Circle Gallery.

Expect a welcoming, collaborative atmosphere where you can scribble, scrawl, and connect with fellow creatives. No experience needed. Just show up, lean in, and do it… because Why Not Now?

Daniel Lopez – Solo Exhibition

Seventh Circle is proud to present the opening of a solo exhibition by Daniel Lopez.

If you’ve ever seen Daniel paint live, you already know: Daniel doesn’t just paint with watercolour; he is a master of it. His work is atmosphere, movement, and light in motion, created with a level of emotional intelligence and technical mastery that’s rare, raw, and real.

Daniel will be in the gallery for the launch on Friday 7th November to launch his exhibition, so come meet him and celebrate his latest body of work. Whether you’re a long-time fan, just discovering his work, or even remotely into watercolour, this one’s for you.
