The Digbeth Branch Procession

Digbeth is a vibrant and diverse place that is home to makers, artists, scrap metal merchants, musicians, burger joints and coffee shops, taxi repair garages, snooker halls, pubs, dance schools and much much more. Its increasingly being described however as a cultural desert and an industrial wasteland, waiting for TV and film studios to ‘revive’ it. These developments are instead placing at risk the independent businesses and organisations that make Digbeth special.

May 2024 marks 10 years of Digbeth First Friday and to show solidarity with our friends and neighbours we are organising a procession of BCU staff, students and Alumni between the Parkside campus and Minerva Works.

You might want to make specific banners for the procession or think about showcasing your work as a celebration of the creativity of the university and the city. You might just want to walk with us. All are welcome.

Organised by the Art Activisms and Urban Cultures research clusters
