A black person with dark hair and hoop earrings is shown in profile, holding their hands near their face in a contemplative or emotional gesture against a dark background. In the bottom right corner is the top of someone else's head. They have bleach blond hair.

A film still showing a black person with dark hair and hoop earrings. They are shown in profile, holding their hands near the top of the head of someone else with bleach blonde hair.

Join us this Digbeth First Friday for unfolding into these — a film screening within our current Gallery Two exhibition, ‘The Library is All of These’, at Eastside Projects.

With works by Moira Salt and Anne-Marie Copestake, both films draws out the tender moments that pulse beneath the surfaces of the exhibition—the fingertips, the gestures, the soft exchanges between body and space.

In parallel with the exhibition, the screening centres people within architectural and civic spaces—thinking through ideas of Architectural Ethnography and spatial justice. These films gesture toward a choreography of soft interactions. Thinking about the body as terrain, a body which (even in absence) lingers, responds, absorbs, and filters.

The body as terrain. Space as membrane.

Accessibility

Eastside Projects is an accessible venue. There are a couple of steps at the door but if you ring the bell or speak to a member of staff we will bring our ramp out. Once you are inside the galleries are on one level, as is the bathroom. Alice's exhibition includes a video which is shown in a dark space and has sound. You can borrow noise cancelling headphones and popping fidget spinners from staff on the front desk if you need them. Please email or call us if you have any questions.
