Promotional image for 'The Secret Peasants Garden Party' is in landscape. A ripped up Union Jack flag displays the event title. At the bottom of the image is a silhouette of a peasants uprising with pitchforks and raised fists. Above the title is a green circle ringed by fire with a broken crown in flames while two hands raise a toast with two drink glasses.

Join Digbeth Community Garden, Warehouse Cafe, and Itzatna Arts for a radical grassroots weekender of Anti-Imperialist creative resistance against the coronation of Charles III.

Following on from Itzatna Arts ‘(Secret) Peasants Tea Party’ last year in protest against the insidious and unquestioned Platinum Jubilee ‘celebrations’, and the postcolonial circus of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – we’re now responding to the appalling arrests of anti-Monarchist campaigners in Oxford and Edinburgh last year, which all raise serious questions about the way in which major forces are attempting to silence our dissent in the UK.

Digbeth Community Garden and Itzatna want to transform the quiet oasis of the community garden at the urgent, potent time of the Coronation Bank Holiday weekend, to enable radical conversations and collaborations between artists and activists.

This is a party BY PEASANTS – FOR PEASANTS!

Expect a range of workshops, live bands, soapbox stand-up, political piñatas, and a silent disco!

Full line up of artists, acts and activist/campaign groups presenting will be announced – watch this space!
