@ Fazeley Park

This is a flyer for Fazeley Parks First Friday event. It is in a DIY punk style. In the centre is a scanned in image of the Birmingham crest of arms presumably on top of a doorway to a redbrick building. At the top of the flyer in a typewriter style font is The Civic Gospel and below that reads ... according to Dawn Jones. At the bottom of the poster in the same font is the location- Unit 14 Minerva Works and the time/date of the event. 6.30-10pm Friday 1st March 2024 Fazeley park

forward motto

This work aims to advocate the importance and continued relevance of the ‘Civic Gospel’ at a time of great uncertainty and division.
Jones studies and records urban spaces as a way of exploring the culture of Birmingham. She intends to build an archive of real Birmingham culture through the eyes of its communities before places disappear.

The locations photographed are carefully selected as they bear the imprints and legacies of the original gospel ideologies. They tell a million stories of our shared histories and interactions.
