Spot VR Residency is a programme dedicated to artists representing the global majority. Within this residency we have invited Tomilola and Aaliyah to bring their unique visions to the possibilities of VR. Come and see the artists display their respective residency final outcomes.

Tomilola says of her experience:

‘My time on the Spot VR Residency has been really experimental, exploring my project Wa wọ (Come and see) a playful and intuitive navigation of VR technology and its adaptation into my existing art practice. Thus far I’ve created some artwork of free-form drawings and augmented reality sculpture 3D modules, and with these experiences, I’m keen on engaging the curiosities of the audience’.

And Aaliyah:

‘During my residency, I’ve had an enjoyable and intriguing experience so far. I’ve had the privilege of acquiring new skills in the realm of 3D modelling and virtual reality, which has significantly shifted my perspective. Additionally, working on a physical piece for the exhibition has allowed me to revisit and enhance my needle felting skills.’

Join us for a free artist talk with Olumide and Shaw from 5:30pm.
