For April’s Digbeth First Friday, Brum Radio are hosting a new artwork made by Nottingham based artist Claire Davies. Interested in the sense of awe and wonder surrounding the activity of being, her practice merges the mundanity of the extraordinary and the exceptional of the everyday into combined narratives or elusive objects questioning how we understand the world.
Drawing together interests in the obsessive and bizarre, Claire’s research has led her towards the unusual and heightened experiences of space exploration, UFO sightings and hallucinations which are then paralleled with the everyday; daily routines, memories and personal relationships. Using the rapid evolution of technology as an expanding material and a direct form of content, she wants to question the form and role of technology in these scenarios and the future embodiment of the self.
