6.30pm – 8.30pm
Stryx opens its doors this Digbeth First Friday to introduce you to the recently selected SOUP artists in residence; Johnny Gordon, Megan de Greef, Chuma Martin, Raquel Macartney, Duncan Poulton and Gavin Rogers.
The artists will present works that represent their current practices spanning performance, sculpture, video and installation, alongside a video installation discussing their artistic concerns and outlining their individual aims for the two-month residency which will take place over May and June 2016.
The SOUP residency programme awards emerging artists in the West Midlands the opportunity to work for eight weeks in the culturally thriving heart of Birmingham, Digbeth.
The residency offers artists time and space to develop projects, as well as having the opportunity to integrate themselves into the local artistic community. The residency is intended for emerging artists who will benefit by creating work amongst other artists of varying disciplines and specialisms, but incorporates some form of digital, media or live performance.
