BROTH: Soup Exchange
Grand Union
Unit 19 Minerva Works
Fazeley Street
Digbeth
B5 5RS
6-9pm

Grand Union supports and presents innovative artistic and curatorial practice through a programme of contemporary exhibitions, events and a community of artist studios.

‘I want to be there in the kitchen, as you cook; my words are merely my side of the conversation I imagine we might have.’
Nigella Lawson, Nigella Bites (2001)

The recipe is a script for action and transformation, inviting both future imaginings and details of past activity, touching on cooking as a memory device.
As part of Ways of Learning and this Octobers edition of Digbeth First Friday, Kirsty Clarke will be sharing a series of recipes for nourishing one-pot ‘wonders’, all with personal connections to the participants and artists involved in Ways of Learning, as well as the Grand Union team. These texts will be accompanied with a warming bowl of soup, served from the research kitchen housed in the gallery throughout the project.

Ways of Learning is programmed by Lucy Lopez with Grand Union staff. Lopez is Grand Union’s Curator-in-Residence 2018-19.
