Watt’s Orbit – Artist’s Residency with Bobby Bird – Open Studio

Sonic artist Bobby Bird will be in residence at Vivid Projects, creating a surround sound installation and developing his transcendental performance work Watt’s Orbit, which features the rhythms and sounds of 250 year old steam driven beam engines designed by the 18th century Scottish inventor James Watt.
Newly captured recordings of Watt’s Smethwick Engine will be combined with three previously recorded engines to create a work suitable for installation.
The residency provides a wonderful opportunity to meet the artist, hear work in progress, and get an inside view of the artistic process involved in creating this unique piece.
