Hard Hat Tour

Friday 5 July, 5–5.30pm and 6–6.30pm

The Empire Remains Shop–Birmingham

Location: Junction Works, 106 Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RS

For July’s Digbeth First Friday, Grand Union are offering hard hat tours of the Junction Works building.

This is the site of a long term research project, The Empire Remains Shop–Birmingham, by Cooking Sections. In collaboration with Grand Union, this franchise speculates on the possibility of selling back the remains of the British Empire today. This acts as a platform to question networks and infrastructures between created centres and imposed margins.

Whilst the facade and windows of Junction Works are open to all 24/7, these hard hat tours will provide a further insight into The Empire Remains Shop–Birmingham and provide the opportunity for a closer look at Junction Works, the potential future home of Grand Union.

Hard Hat Tours will take place each Digbeth First Friday in two allocated time slots: 5–5.30pm and 6–6.30pm. Each tour will be led by an invited guest; for July, the tour will be led by Cheryl Jones, Director of Grand Union.

Please RSVP to one of the time slots by contacting birmingham@empireremains.net
